Terms of Use

Draft — review with a lawyer before launch
These terms apply when you read, share, or send anything to Mama’s Makin’ Moves. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
1. Who we are
Mama’s Makin’ Moves is an independent, US-based editorial publication telling the stories of mothers who own and run businesses. “We,” “us” and “our” refer to the publication and the people who run it.
2. Editorial independence
Features are never paid placements. No one can buy a story, a better position in the directory, or a say in what we write. If we ever run sponsorships or partner content, it will be clearly labeled and kept separate from our editorial work.
We decide what to publish. Being nominated, or completing an interview, doesn’t guarantee a feature.
3. What you send us
When you send us a nomination, message or other submission, you confirm that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that you have the right to share it, and that it doesn’t violate anyone else’s rights. You let us use it to run the publication, for example to contact a nominee, research a story, or reply to you. Please don’t send us anything confidential.
How we handle personal information in submissions is described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Featured founders
If you’re invited to be featured, you keep ownership of your interview answers and photos. By submitting them and giving consent, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to edit, publish, display and share them, in whole or in part, on the site, in our newsletter, and on our social channels, including in promotion of your feature.
As described on our About and Nominate pages, an editor shapes each piece and you review and approve it before it goes live. We edit for clarity, not invention: we won’t add numbers, awards, clients or family details you didn’t give us.
You confirm that you own, or have permission to use, the photos you upload, and that anyone identifiable in them has agreed to appear. If you later want something corrected or a feature taken down, contact us and we’ll work with you on it. Copies already shared, such as a sent newsletter, may not be retrievable.
5. Directory listings
Our directory helps readers find businesses owned by mothers. A listing is not an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee of a business’s products, services, licensing or conduct. Listing details may change, and we can’t promise they are always current. Please do your own research before buying from, hiring, or visiting any business. Your dealings with a listed business are between you and that business.
We may add, edit or remove listings at our discretion. If you own a listed business and something needs updating, let us know.
6. Our content
The stories, design and other original material on the site belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright. You’re welcome to share links and short quotes with credit. Please don’t republish full articles or photos without our permission. Some photography is licensed from Unsplash and is subject to its license.
7. Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- submit false, misleading, defamatory or harassing information, or nominate someone to embarrass or target them;
- impersonate anyone, or submit someone else’s photos or words as your own;
- send spam, or use automated tools to submit forms or scrape the site in bulk;
- try to access interview links, admin areas or data that aren’t yours, or interfere with the site’s security or operation;
- use the site for anything unlawful.
We may ignore submissions, remove content, or block access if we believe these terms have been broken.
8. Links to other sites
We link to founders’ websites, shops and social profiles, and to other sources. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or practices.
9. Disclaimers
Our stories share founders’ experiences and opinions. They are for general information and inspiration, and are not financial, legal, tax, medical or professional advice. Talk to a qualified professional about your own situation.
The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including about accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, the directory, or any business listed on it. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time; the “Last updated” date above shows when. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the publication is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
